Two wins highlighted Kingfisher’s weekend as the Yellowjacket baseball team gets ready for the home stretch of the season.KHS defeated Putnam City West 7-6 on Thursday and Pauls Valley 14-7 Saturday in The Shed Classic being held at Homier Field.

The winning hasn’t stopped for Matthew Stone at the collegiate level.The former Kingfisher High School basketball standout on Thursday night collected more hardware.

Not even facing the teeth of a stiff wind could keep Cale Reagan from golf fate.The Kingfisher High School freshman blasted a knock-down 9-iron into that wind on the 12th hole at the International Course at Cedar Valley Golf Club.That shot eventually found its way right into the hole.

It’s not unusual to see Kingfisher High School golfers on the range or putting green at their home course late in the afternoon.It is a bit odd after they’ve already played an 18-hole tournament.

The Kingfisher baseball team kept its perfect district record intact last week with a home-and-home sweep over Woodward.The Jackets hit the road Monday and came back home with a 10-6 victory.At Homier Field Tuesday, it was a bit more dramatic in a 6-5 eight-inning win.

Kingfisher boys basketball coach Jared Reese knew his program would produce at least one allstate selection this year.He wasn’t so sure about the maximum of two.Reese can rest assured now.The Oklahoma Coaches Association on Thursday announced the rosters for its All-State basketball teams.

Freshmen played a big role in the Kingfisher High School girls’ second track meet of the season.KHS took third place Friday in the second annual Wildcat Relays at Cashion.The Lady Jackets scored 87 team points and won gold in four different events.Freshmen took part in all of them.

The Kingfisher girls soccer team opened the Oklahoma Christian School Invitational with a win, but eventually finished fourth after a pair of losses.After defeating OCS JV in Friday’s opener, the Lady Jackets were knocked off 9-0 by OCS and then 5-2 by Catoosa on Saturday.

Picking up wins is almost secondary to Kingfisher boys soccer coach Isaac Waltman.He’s just trying to get a healthy team. The Jackets were without as many as five starters last weekend as they went 1-2 in the Oklahoma Christian School Invitational in Edmond.

Okarche’s Emma Stover has typically been on rival sides with Lomega’s Darcy Roberts and Sydni Walker.For at least one game, the Kingfisher County trio will be teammates.The three local seniors were selected last week to the Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association All-State team.
