Elk City edged out Tuttle and Kingfisher to take the team title at last week’s Weatherford Large-School Boys Invitational Tournament.The Elks shot a 312 at Prairie West Golf Course, which proved to be two strokes better than Tuttle and three better than the Jackets.

Kingfisher’s girls golf team got its season started with a title on Wednesday.The team took first in the small-school division of the Weatherford Girls Invitational Tournament.Raegan Snider fired an 87 to take first place indivdually.Teammate Kylie Hood was the runner-up with a 95.

From a championship standpoint, it was a down year in Kingfisher County.The 2022-23 basketball season has come and gone.Fourteen teams (seven girls, seven boys) raised gold balls at center court of either State Fair Arena or Lloyd Noble Center.

As Eli Johnson delivered the final pitch on another district sweep, he also furnished his head coach with a milestone victory.The Kingfisher baseball team moved to 4-0 in District 4A-4 games Monday with run-rule wins of 8-0 and 13-0 against Western Heights at Homier Field.

Two Kingfisher High School girls basketball players and two more boys earned first-team all-conference honors.Juniors Peyton Walker and Addy Matthews were named to the first team by a vote of Western Athletic Conference coaches, it was announced on Tuesday.

Tougher tests await, but Kingfisher High School’s soccer season certainly got off to a stellar start.The Lady Jackets blanked Millwood 10-0 at home last Tuesday.The team was supposed to play Douglass, but when the Lady Trojans couldn’t field a team, Millwood stepped in.

Kingfisher High Shool’s boys basketball team earned the 2023 Class 4A academic state championship. The team was recognized Saturday morning at State Fair Arena. Team members were responsible for a combined 3.89 grade point average in earning the honor.
