A class dominated at the top by teams from the northwest saw Lomega finish 20th Saturday at the Class 2A boys state cross country meet.Hooker won the state title with just 58 points in the event held at Edmond Santa Fe High School.

It was a state meet with some unexpected results.You can count Kingfisher’s in that mix.KHS took ninth Saturday at the Class 4A girls state cross country competition at Edmond Santa Fe High School.Fifth-rankedByngsurged to win the state championship with 108 points, nudging third-ranked Cache’s 117.

Hennessey came home from the Class 3A girls state cross country meet with some valuable experience… and a prestigious piece of hardware as well.The Lady Eagles placed sixth at Saturday’s meet held at Edmond Santa Fe High School.

The first of November marks the beginning of basketball season for the state’s two smallest classes.Schools in Class A and B can begin varsity games on Nov. 1. Locally, that includes Lomega, Dover and Okarche. Dover was the only county school to play on Tuesday, Nov.

Three Kingfisher High School softball seniors were named all-district first team selections when the picks were announced last week.Named to the District 4A-4 first team after a vote of the coaches were Mya Dewberry, Natalie Dick and Merrin Evans.Dewberry and Evans were named as utility players.

After a quick reprieve from district play, Crescent now turns its attention to a pivotal two-week stretch.The Tigers took care of Western Heights 42-8 last Friday in a non-district game to keep their perfect record intact.C.J.

Kingfisher has reached the football playoffs every year since missing out in 1999.That string of 22 straight years was in jeopardy of reaching 23 last Friday night.But in the end, the Jackets took a big step in keeping the playoff hopes intact with a wild 21-14 win at McLoud.
