SHE MEANS BUSINESS - Okarche’s Beth Schieber saw the serious “intent” in her granddaughter Kamryn’s face when pitching earlier this year. Schieber caught it on camera and the resulting picture will now be featured in the DKG Gallery of Fine Arts.

The Arts & Humanities Jury of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International announced recently the publication of Beth Schieber’s photograph, titled “Field of Dreams,” in the DKG Gallery of Fine Arts.

The online gallery of works and letters can be found at www.dkg.org.

Schieber a resident of Okarche, is a member of Beta Beta Chapter of the Oklahoma State Organization of the Society.

Schieber said she was watching her granddaughter, Kamryn Schieber, pitch during one of her softball games.

“She was so intent on her pitch that I just had to try and capture her in that moment,” Schieber said.

She added that she knows how long and hard Kamryn works to fulfill her dreams.

“She takes pitching and hitting lessons and dedicates numerous hours practicing to achieve her dream.”

Kamryn was 10 years old at the time this photograph was taken. She played on the Pink Sox, which is a 10-and-under league team.

The jury anticipates the unveiling of the new DKG Fine Arts Gallery by mid-November. Schieber’s work will be displayed on the gallery for six months, after which it will be archived for two years.

Another opportunity for showcasing Schieber’s accepted work is at the DKG International 2023 Conferences or 2024 Convention Expo.

Schieber is the Beta Beta Chapter newsletter editor, the chapter parliamentarian, the chapter website editor and the chapter immediate past president.

She serves as the Oklahoma State Organization newsletter editor and communication committee chair and is a past state president and state achievement award recipient.

At the international level, Schieber is serving the final two years of her sixyear term as a member of the board of directors for the DKG International Educators Foundation.

DKG is a professional honor society for women educators with more than 55,000 members.

Established in 17 member countries around the world, the society defines its mission as promoting professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.

Society headquarters are in Austin, Texas, where Dr. Annie Webb Blanton founded the society on May 11, 1929.
