The Wake and Rake (WAR) 14-under baseball team recently returned from Destin, Fla., after capturing another World Series championship.

This is the team’s second World Series title in the last three years and it consists of five local players: Jake Kroener (son of Jason and Anna Kroener), Carson Waugh (son of Landon and Kacey Waugh), Jett Yost (son of Matt and Heather Yost), Sutton Terrell (son of Jeff and Billie Terrell) all of Okarche; and Ty Stephenson (son of Blake and Steffanie Stephenson) of Kingfisher.

WAR 14U is coached by Gregg Ward of Edmond, Ted Briscoe of Elk City and Matt Yost of Okarche.

Wake and Rake battled in the heat and humidity to finish the Perfect Game World Series with a perfect 7-0, beating teams from Texas, Oklahoma, Georgia, Florida and New Jersey on its way to the title.

WAR went into extra innings in the final game to secure the championship.

The team finished the season with a record of 32-9-1, winning five of the 10 tournaments it entered.

WAR finished out the season strong by winning 17 of its last 18 games.

It competed in multiple baseball organizations throughout the season, including USSSA, Perfect Game and Five Tool.
