Rayland Garner was able to represent Kingfisher one final time on a basketball court Wednesday night. The 2022 KHS graduate scored five points to help the Large West hold off the Large East 62-61 in the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State Games at Sapulpa High School.

The OSSAA recently released its preliminary Average Daily Membership (ADM) numbers for the 2022- 23 school year.The numbers are essentially the enrollment figures in grades 9-12 for each member school for the previous year and they’re used for classification purposes for all OSSAA activities.

A 14-under softball team from Kingfisher got its final summer tune-up July 16-17 by claiming a tournament championship in Harrah. The Lady Jackets went 5-0 on the weekend and outscored foes 40-9. The team never surrendered more than three runs in any game.

Kingfisher’s 8-under coach-pitch baseball team is headed to the state tournament.The Jackets last weekend dominated an OK Kids regional tournament hosted at Briscoe Park to punch their ticket to state.They’re not the only Kingfisher team advancing to the final weekend of summer ball.

Thursday marked the end of three consecutive days of pad camp for the Kingfisher High School football team. The Yellowjackets were joined by Guthrie and El Reno and the trio of schools have gathered for multiple sessions throughout the month.

A trio of changes for high school football were adopted by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association board of directors in the spring.Two of the changes will take effect this fall while another won’t begin until the 2024 season.
