Who’s the best? Tulsa World says KHS

Who has the best team in all the land? It’s an annual debate that’s rarely settled unless one team is clearly head and shoulders above everyone else. The 2021 basketball season was no exception. Proof? The Class 6A champ lost to the Class 4A runner-up. The 6A runner-up beat the 4A champion.

Snodgrass, Mecklenburg have big days for KMS track teams

Scout Snodgrass and Matthew Mecklenburg won three gold medals apiece for Kingfisher during last Saturday’s Watonga High School and Junior High Track & Field Meet. Snodgrass medaled four times overall as the KMS girls took third place as a team with 89 points. She won the 400 meter run in 1:04.

Mueggenborg joins KHS gold medal club

Jacee Mueggenborg has joined the ranks of Kingfisher High School girls track and field athletes to win an individual gold medal this season. The junior won the 3,200 meter run at last Saturday’s Watonga High School and Middle School Track & Field Meet.

Vallerand makes Red Devils pay

Maybe pitching around Madison Nance wasn’t such a good idea after all. Karsyn Vallerand blasted three grand slams and another two-run home run Monday in back-to-back wins over top-seeded Ringwood to help lift Okarche to a Class 2A slowpitch softball district title.

Narrow defeats end Jacket soccer playoff bid

The Kingfisher boys soccer team entered the private school gauntlet portion of its district schedule with a shot at making the playoffs. It couldn’t quite make it out with one of those spots locked up. The Jackets’ season ended Thursday night with a 10-0 loss at Mount St. Mary in Oklahoma City.

HH outlasts KHS in 10 innings

Kingfisher suffered two losses in one game Wednesday when it visited Heritage Hall. The Jackets were upended 4-3 in 10 innings by the Chargers. The defeat ended the Jackets’ hopes of winning District 4A-1 as it gave Heritage Hall a sweep in the two-game series.
