LC tops Lady Jackets in state quarterfinals

Defending champion Lincoln Christian lived up to its billing by handing Kingfisher a 53-32 defeat Tuesday morning in the Class 4A girls state quarterfi nals at OG&E Coliseum.KHS was making its fourth appearance at state in five years and saw its season end with a 26-5 record.

The sound of music rang through the halls and classrooms of Kingfisher Upper Elementary last Saturday.A lot of it was excellent, some of it was superior and it resulted in a dozen Kingfisher High School students qualifying for state.

Cashion found itself in familiar territory.Unfortunately, it was an all-too-familiar result.After winning two elimination games, the Lady Wildcats were downed 60-51 by No. 6 Riverside Saturday in a Class 2A area consolation championship game at Bridge Creek.The win moved Riverside to state.

Lady Jackets secure state reservation

With the season and a spot in the state tournament on the line, coach Taylor Young’s team, more often than not, will get it done.The Lady Jackets proved it once again Saturday night when they held off No. 11 Berryhill 44-38 in a Class 4A area consolation championship at Kellyville.
