Snowden is Cherokee Strip MVP

Reagan Snowden was voted the Most Valuable Player of the Cherokee Strip Conference by coaches, it was recently announced.The Lomega sophomore led her team to an undefeated conference record that also included winning the Cherokee Strip Conference Tournament championship.

Kochenower tabbed as All-State wrestler

Kingfisher’s Brayden Kochenower is officially an All-State wrestler.Kochenower was named to the 144-pound slot on Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State squad for the Small West recently.He placed third at 144 pounds in the Class 3A state tournament this season.

Johnson named all- district cager

Kingfisher senior Jeff Johnson was selected to the Northwest Oklahoma All-District basketball team recently by the Oklahoma Coaches’ Association.Johnson was chosen all-district for District 1, which includes all of northwest Oklahoma.A 6-foot-1 guard, Johnson averaged 21 points, five rebounds and 4.
YMCA CHAMPS — A group of second and third graders from Kingfisher recently finished as league champions in the 2001 YMCA Third Grade Boys’ Basketball League. The team, coached by Chris Smith, finished with an 11-2 record. Team members include, from left, front, second graders Jeremy Smith, Logan Nault and Josh Lamer; and back, third graders Kyle Svoboda, Jordan Woods, Alex Bastida and Douglas Thomas. Jackets rack up early 5-3 baseball record

Kingfisher closed out a two-day run at the Oklahoma City Festival last Friday with an 8-6 victory over Lighthouse Christian.The win over the Missouri team improved the Jackets to 5-3 overall entering the Spring Break.That includes a 4-0 record in District 4A-4 games.

Luke Hill wasted no time in letting his teammates know he was ready for baseball season to arrive.One of the few Okarche baseball mainstays who didn’t also play basketball started the spring season with a leadoff homer Tuesday as the Warriors got a 7-5 win at Drummond.

Win over Cashion part of 4-0 start for Dover

Dover capped a whirlwind week last Friday with its biggest non-playoff win in the Pete Voth era.Trypp Lack pitched a complete-game gem and delivered the winning hit and was responsible for every run as the Longhorns beat visiting Cashion 3-2.

If Kevin Lewallen had his way, last weekend never would have happened.Or, at the very least, history may have belonged to someone else.Lomega trampled Leedey 71-44 last Saturday at OG&E Coliseum in the Class B-II girls state championship game.
