Kingfisher County Court Clerk Lauren Stroh issued marriage licenses recently to the following couples: August 18: Jason Lee Wiebelt, 34, and Caitlin Elizabeth Fulton, 28, both of Crescent.August 22: Tanner Logan Emery, 22, and Victoria Rose Powell, 21, both of Kingfisher.

Former superintendent Harrel dies

Former Kingfisher Public Schools superintendent Celo Jackson “Jack” Harrel - who served in that role two different times - died Saturday, Aug. 30.He was 82. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at Harvest Fellowship Church in Leedey.

Lady Warriors Finish 3-2 in Highway 81 Classic

After winning its first three games of the Highway 81 Classic, Okarche dropped its final two matchups and settled for sixth place.The Lady Warriors beat Timberlake and Chisholm to open pool play on Thursday on their home field (see our weekend edition).

Longhorns Extend Win Streak

What baseball team entered this week with the longest win streak in the state?The Dover Longhorns.They extended their streak last Friday by downing Glencoe 6-0 and Union City 5-1.After starting the season 0-2, the Longhorns have now won nine straight games.

Warriors Win Roff Tournament

Class A’s top-ranked Okarche beat 2A No. 2 Byng 4-2 on Saturday to win the Roff Tournament championship.It was the Warriors’ second big tournament title of the season as they earlier laid claim to the Dale Tournament championship.
