Don’t you hate it when snobs use 20-dollar words when nickel ones will do? My least favorite words at the moment are metrosexual, shapewear and paradigm. In reading a couple books recently I had to grab the dictionary to find out what “disputations” and “usufructs” were.

Stephenson, Stone grab 4 medals

Personal records and even school records were achieved last Saturday by the Kingfisher High School track and field teams. Both the KHS boys and girls took third in the team standings at the Class 4A regional meet in Plainview.

Barton, Lomega relays have strong regionals

Hallie Barton medaled in four events and - for the first time ever - every Lomega boys and girls relay team has qualified for the state track and field meet. Barton was the champ in the 100 meter dash at last weekend’s Class A regional meet in Okemah.

Farrell, Watkins state-bound

Mia Farrell and Sydney Watkins are state-bound. Kingfisher’s No. 1 doubles team took third place Monday in the Class 4A regional tournament at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center. The duo locked up their state bid when they defeated Chisholm 6-2, 6-0 in a consolation bracket match.

Cashion, Crescent in as teams; Hill, Burnham qualify for KHS

It wasn’t sealed until the final scores were reported, but Kingfisher High School has two boys golfers headed to state. Blake Hill shot a 150 and Tristun Burnham a 152 over 36 holes Monday during a Class 4A regional at Kingfisher Golf Course.
