A new Oklahoma ballot proposal, State Question 832, would significantly increase the state’s minimum wage by tying it to the cost of living in expensive urban areas. The measure is on the ballot on June 16, 2026.Let us imagine that this ballot proposal would have passed, say, 10 years ago.

‘We’re here, just in a new location’

The OSU Extension Office in Kingfisher County finally has a permanent home.The extension staff is operating out of its new office at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds in Kingfisher.
KINGFISHER COUNTY’S new Extension Office is completed and staff having been working in their new digs since late spring. The new office, funded completely by the Extension service, is located at the southeast corner of the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds

Back to school this week for 3 districts and CTTC

The summer break ends this week for a large portion of Kingfisher County students.Classes for the 2025-26 school year begin Thursday, Aug. 7, for students at Kingfisher, Dover, Lomega and Chisholm Trail Technology Center.Okarche, Cashion and Hennessey schools begin classes Thursday, Aug. 14.

Laryn Fuksa

Graveside services for Laryn Ann Fuksa, 39, were Saturday, July 26, at Calvary Cemetery officiated by Rev. John Herrera. Arrangements were by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.Laryn was born in Okeene on Nov. 24, 1985, to Todd and Starla Cosper Fuksa and died Monday July 21, 2025, at her home in Hennessey.

Goldie Mae (Troyer) Baker, 95, of Kingfisher, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 25, 2025.A celebration of her life was held Wednesday, July 30, at Kingfisher Church of the Nazarene.
