Radio host and conservative icon Rush Limbaugh died Wednesday at the age of 70 after a battle with lung cancer, his family announced. One of the most influential media figures in American history, Limbaugh was a giant in conservative politics since “The Rush Limbaugh Show” began in 1988.

He’d read too many Louis L’Amour books and seen one too many John Wayne movies. Now the kid from Newark wanted to be a cowboy.

Given how flawed human nature is, America has been a remarkable moral achievement. This is the truism that separates the wise man from the fool. This is the truism that separates the left from the anti-left. Those who acknowledge how flawed human nature is compare America to reality.

Funeral service for Edward “Eddie” Kuehn will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at the Okarche First Baptist Church with Rev. James Inman officiating. Burial will follow in the Kingfisher Cemetery. A come-and-go viewing will be held at Wilson Funeral Home at 1612 S. Main St.

Denise K. Meyer, 62, formerly of Okarche, died Feb. 12, 2021, in Salina, Kan. A socially distanced public visitation will be Friday, Feb. 26, at Sanders Funeral Home in Kingfisher followed by a private family graveside service at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Okarche.

Thank you Father, Mother, the Great I Am for this day that thy has made. I shall be glad in this grand day. May the words I write be alright in thy sight my judge and my king.

Only Kingfisher and Okarche voters will have contested municipal seats in the April 6 general election after a Hennessey candidate was disqualified. Rachel Don Rogers, who filed for one of Hennessey’s two open four-year board of trustee seats, was disqualified in a hearing Wednesday, Feb.
