Only 27 nations opposed China’s Hong Kong security bill

Following a vote on Tuesday at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, the communist government in China declared victory in its enactment of a new security law which essentially ends Hong Kong’s autonomy and basic freedoms for its citizens.

Dennis E. Fisher was born in Okarche on Nov. 10, 1949. He passed away on July 2, 2020, with his family by his side after fighting a battle with cancer. Dennis grew up on a farm outside of Kingfisher. As a youth, he was in FFA. He spent his time on the farm raising livestock and harvesting crops.

There’s a new Mike in town

Mike Dobrinski of Okeene will succeed House Majority Leader Mike Sanders (R-Kingfisher) as the next House District 59 representative, subject to certifica tion of the official vote on Friday. Unofficial result totals show Dobrinski carrying 72.73% of the votes cast to opponent Adam Masters’ 28.27%.

Medicaid expanded

Voters in four of the state’s most populous counties plus three others carried State Question 802 to a narrow victory, according to unofficial voting. Subject to the official vote certification on Friday, Oklahoma will become the 37th state to pass Medicaid expansion, by a narrow 50.
