Hennessey grabs road sweep over Harding Fine Arts

If the Hennessey boys basketball team is hitting from the 3-point line, the Eagles are tough to beat. They displayed some of that early Tuesday in a 54-41 victory over Harding Fine Arts in Oklahoma City. In building a 22-7 first-quarter lead, the Eagles buried six 3-point shots.

Cashion sweeps Seiling

Just before Cashion’s schedule gets really difficult, Seiling wanted to make sure nothing came easy for the Wildcats. The Cashion defense got a stop with two seconds left Thursday night to help it hold on to a 56-54 home win over Seiling.

Nolan Reasnor

Nolan Reasnor, 27, of Sherman, Texas, and formerly of Cashion, passed away, Feb. 4, 2020. Come-and-go visitation for Nolan will be noon-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at the Crawford Family Funeral Home in Edmond. The family will be receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Public input hot topic at KBE meeting

Three school patrons voiced frustrations and concerns Monday over various issues regarding the district to the Kingfisher Board of Education at its February regular meeting. One man’s issue was with the very process it took for him to be able to appear in front of the board.

Driver dies in train wreck

An Enid man was killed about 6:30 p.m. Sunday when the semi tractor-trailer rig he was driving failed to yield at a railroad crossing and was struck by a Union Pacific train south of Kingfisher, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.

If Papa can’t fix it, we’re all in trouble. The words of Mark and Connie Pirtle’s 16-year-old grandson, Isaiah, say a lot. Kingfisher became home to the Pirtles in 1979, where they raised three sons, Dustin, Chris, and Bradley, as well their grandson, Isaiah.

Success: Christmas tree is now bare

The Christmas tree is finally down. Well, not down, but bare. It didn’t take me long to get the 500,000 ornaments and foofoo stuff off of it, but it took me an eternity to get the three strands of lights off. That was a dangerous job. I have the scratched up arthritic hands as proof.
