It was time

It wasn’t what I expected, or as I’d feared. It was more of a reunion of friends. Friends and acquaintances that I hadn’t seen in a long time, and it was time. It had been three years. I made excuses for not going the first and second years because I couldn’t accept that I was, I am, a widow.

Funeral services for Kingfisher native Dennis Baker, 87, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 5700 N. Kelley Ave., Oklahoma City, under the direction of Temple & Sons Funeral Directors. Dennis passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2019.

Child neglect charges filed

Two Kingfisher mothers were charged last week with felony child neglect in unrelated cases filed in Kingfi sher County District Court. A warrant was still outstanding at press time Friday for the arrest of Stevie Ray Goodblanket, 31, 221 S. Ninth St.

Kingfisher’s 8th graders cap season with big win at Cashion

Kingfisher’seighthgrade football team wrapped up its 2019 campaign on a strong note last Monday. The Jackets beat Cash-ion 42-0 on the road to end their season at 4-4. On a cold, blustery day, it was the run game that carried KMS to the win.

Developing a Vision

The Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes are seeking public and local tribal input on plans to construct a community facility and wellness center on the old Kingfi sher Regional Hospital site at 500 S. Ninth St. The center is intended to be utilized by the community at large, as well as by tribal members.
