Plainview HCE holds regular monthly meeting

Plainview HCE met at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 8, at Debbie Winters’ home. Dana Golbek, president, brought the meeting to order. Members recited pledges to American and Oklahoma flags, followed by the devotion.

Area students pick up summer degrees from Central Oklahoma

There will be 483 students earn their degrees as the summer 2019 semester at the University of Central Oklahoma comes to a close. Of that number, UCO received applications for graduation from 411 undergraduate students and 72 graduate students.

The $15/hr. minimum wage silliness

Does the left really think that raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour is a humane (or Christian) thing to do? We see the proposal as another ploy to create confusion, damage the economy and to attack the Left’s nemesis, President Donald Trump.

Debate over state savings continues

At Gov. Kevin Stitt’s urging, state lawmakers set aside roughly $200 million of this year’s surplus into state savings. That amount, combined with deposits to Oklahoma’s Constitutional Reserve Fund, leaves Oklahoma government with around $1 billion in savings for the first time ever.

Trump calls for background checks, denounces White Supremacy

In the wake of two weekend shootings that left 31 dead in Texas and Ohio, President Donald Trump called Monday for bipartisan action that includes increased background checks to catch “red flags” of potential shooters. Trump also denounced hatred and white supremacy.

Myers wins 12th club championship

The longest drought in 16 years for Heath Myers in the Kingfisher Golf Association club championship is over. Myers reclaimed ownership of the title he’s mostly dominated since 2004 with back-to-back bogey-free rounds Saturday and Sunday at Kingfisher Golf Course.
