Weather halts 4A girls state golf after Round 1

Shawnee Country Club proved tough to navigatefor much of the Class 4A girls state golf tournament field on Monday.Only one golfer was under-par in the opening round and all but three golfers were 10-over-par or more at the end of the day.

Okarche state-bound in golf

Okarche has multiple state tournaments in its future.The Warrior golf team matched the baseball team’s feat by qualifying for the state tournament.The golfers did their part Monday in a Class 2A regional at The Coves Golf Club in Afton.

KHS season ended by Harrah

A rough defensive day helped lead to the end of Kingfisher’s baseball season.The Jackets committed eight errors Friday in a 9-5 loss to Harrah in a Class 4A regional tournament elimination game in Tuttle.

Jett Mueggenborg hasn’t played a high school basketball game in two months.That doesn’t stop the postseason honors from rolling in.The Okarche High School junior was recently announced as the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Year for Class A.

Lady Jackets avenge early loss, advance

The right foot of Molly Weber played a major role in booting Kingfisher into the quarterfinal round of the Class 3A soccer playoffs.Weber nailed two free kick goals Monday night as KHS knocked off Bristow 2-1 in a first-round game.The victory pushes KHS into the quarterfinals.

Cookie sales lead to weekend of fun, giving for Troop 424

Kingfisher County Girl Scout Troop 424 spent a weekend last month in downtown Oklahoma City in celebration of a successful cookie season.The girls attended Brickopolis, had a hotel swimming party and visited the Myriad Gardens.

More county road construction

Various much-needed road construction projects around the county are causing detour woes for motorists lately.As Dover-Crescent Road and Beard Road are both out of normal commission, another job is also awaiting completion.

Rotary hosts 4 KHS seniors

Four Kingfisher High School seniors were guests recently at a meeting of the Kingfisher Rotary Club.Joining the local civic group were Mylene Jones, Landon Schroeder, Emily Warren and Mason Alig.Jones is the daughter of Jerry Jones and Nicole Jones.She’s active in wrestling and Frontline Ministries.

Lackey, Myers earn scholarships from Women for OSU

Women for OSU awarded a record 18 scholarships to Oklahoma State University students recently at its annual symposium.According to Women for OSU, those who received scholarships have a strong passion for philanthropy and display leadership in their communities.
