The Class B, A and 2A state basketball tournaments began Tuesday and run through Saturday night.Class A had its quarterfi nal games on Tuesday.Class B followed with its quarterfinal games Wednesday.Class 2A wrapped up quarterfinal action on Thursday.

Raiders season ended by DCLA

The third time didn’t turn out to be the charm for Lomega against Deer Creek-Lamont.The Eagles downed Lomega 65-60 Friday in a Class B area consolation semifinal at Enid’s Stride Bank Center.It was Lomega’s third loss to No. 16 DCLA, all since Jan. 17.

Leopards stop HHS in regional

Hennessey’s offense was good in the second half.Lindsay’s was better. The Leopards used that advantage Friday night to eliminate the Eagles 70-54 in a Class 3A regional consolation semifinal at the Eagle Event Center.The loss saw Hennessey’s season end with a 12-15 record.

Kay Lynn Davis, 79, of Billings, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025. Born on Jan. 14, 1946, to Martin Daniel Kingery and Ellen Fern Holmes Kingery, Kay grew up in Billings, where she always maintained she had a perfect childhood.

The funeral for Frederick James Rourke, 89 was Tuesday, March 4, at First Christian Church of Hennessey officiated by Rev. Ish Engle and Rev. Grant Curtis.Burial followed at Hennessey Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

As the time ran down on the clock of last Saturday night’s game in Cleveland, the Okarche faithful were in a frenzy.The Lady Warriors had just completed a three-day torture trek through the consolation bracket of their Class A area tournament, which was also their fourth game in six days.

Kingfisher’s Jaxon Sheppard won at the state wrestling tournament Thursday. Coach Taylor Young and her Lady Jackets won at the regional tournament on Thursday as well.

The Kingfisher County asssessor began mailing out notices of increase in valuation of real property late last week.Assessor Carrie Turner said the notices were set to be mailed either Friday or Saturday to Kingfisher County residents.

Chisholm Trail Technology Center hosted its annual appreciation banquet last Wednesday evening with a packed house in attendance at the CTTC campus in western Kingfi sher County.Pioneer Telephone Cooperative was recognized as CTTC’s Business Partner of the Year during the event.
