Mueggenborg soars past 1,500 in Okarche win

Within the last couple of weeks, Jett Mueggenborg welcomed teammates Hunter Mueggenborg and Easton Roby to the 1,000-point club, a spot he’s kept warm since last season.Now Jett has moved to a different level in that club.

Lady Eagles grab double OT victory at Okarche

The large lead slipped away… and then it was gone.But Hennessey still found a way to grab a victory Tuesday in Okarche.The Lady Eagles outscored their hosts 10-2 in the second overtime to take home a 51-45 win.Hennessey led by as many as 11 in the fourth quarter before Okarche charged back.

Jacket comeback falls short

A big third-quarter run helped Kingfisher nearly erase a large deficit, but ultimately Blanchard subdued the Jackets 61-46 at the APB.The visiting Lions, ranked 14th in Class 4A, stormed out of the gates and at one point led 25-8 in the second quarter.

Game winners and school records

With students from every Kingfisher Public Schools campus filling the stands, the KHS girls got their repeat bid set off on a good note.The Lady Jackets downed Guthrie 61-18 Thursday morning in the first game of the tournament.

Cashion sends PC-H home with 2 losses

A dominant second quarter and some sharpshooting by Parker Mitchell propelled Cashion past Pond Creek-Hunter last Tuesday.Mitchell scored 29 points as the Wildcats downed the visiting Panthers 59-48.It was Cashion’s eighth win in nine games.

Lomega dominates Ringwood in sweep

Three Raiders scored in double figures in Lomega’s final tune-up for the conference tournament.Lomega downed Ringwood 75-30 Tuesday night at home in the first of two meetings against the Red Devils in three days.

Monday wreck claims 2 lives

Two people died and another was injured Monday morning in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 81 about eight miles north of Hennessey in Garfield County.Pronounced dead at the scene were Adrian Galaviz, 24, Hennessey, and Janet Hicks, 63, Marshall.The accident occurred at 7:05 a.m.

Payne stepping down from KPS board

The Kingfisher Board of Education will soon have a vacant seat.Terry Payne confirmed to the Times & Free Press that he will be tendering his resignation from the board this week.Payne and his wife, Tonya, are selling their Kingfisher home and moving to the Oklahoma City area.

Cashion attempts to catch growth

Some Cashion students have to eat lunch as early as 10:30 a.m. everyday.Some don’t get to eat until 1 p.m.The school district uses four portable classrooms because it ran out of space. Other teachers have to “float” between classrooms because there’s not enough space.
