AMERICAN LEGION Police Officer and Firefighter of the Year awards were presented last week to Sgt. Charles “Chod” Trout, left, and Capt. Ryan Gibson, right, by Kingfisher American Legion Post No. 5 Past Commander Ken Tollison. Trout was nominated by Police Chief David Catron and Gibson by Fire Chief Tony Stewart. This is the first year that the local American Legion Post has presented these awards. The two winners’ names and nominations now will be submitted to the state organization for consideration for statewide honors. See the related story in a coming issue of the Times & Free Press.
