The Cashion FFA chapter held its Work Day Auction Monday, Jan. 5.This fundraiser is unique being the only one the chapter holds with nearly 100% of the proceeds going directly to benefit the chapter and it was considered a great success.

Monday marked Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a national holiday honoring a man best remembered for urging Americans to judge one another by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin.

I’m a barb-arian, one of about ten thousand people who collect barbed wire. I’ve been collecting barbed wire for over 40 years and have nearly 500 different pieces in my collection, but I’m an amateur compared to some barb-arians.

In recent years, Oklahoma colleges have served a growing number of students from other states. At the University of Oklahoma, a majority of freshmen are non-residents for the second consecutive year, and a near-majority of OU freshmen were from other states or countries in prior years.

The Oklahoma Corporation Commission’s court docket dealing with an application for a permit to locate a solid waste processing facility near Hennessey is scheduled Tuesday, Jan. 27, in Oklahoma City.However it’s unknown if it will be held that day, possibly due to the weather.

Just as JD and Hope Smith were preparing for the impending winter storm last week, a devastating fire broke out on their property southeast of Okarche, destroying most everything they owned.Tragically, JD’s mother, who the couple was caring for at the time, lost her life in the fire as well.
