There were tons of cool cars at this year’s Kingfi sher Chamber of Commerce Kool Cars & Chrome Show held last Saturday. There were 103 of them, in fact. However, there was a lot more added to this year’s event. Attendees could pay money to take their turns venting some frustrations with a hammer on a car, as Mikael Barcenas is pictured doing on the far left. There was also the inaugural burnout competition, which was won by Dustin Isom (pictured above). Look for results of the car show judging in our weekend edition.

• MEET THE CANDIDATE: Kingfisher County Republican Women is continuing its series of hosting candidates for the next gubernatorial election. Jake Merrick will make a presentation at the group’s next meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at the Kingfisher County Farm Bureau Insurance Building, 117 W. Sheridan in Kingfisher. Merrick is a former state senator and is currently a radio host. The public is invited to attend and there will be a Q&A after his presentation. Other candidates set to appear are listed in an ad in this edition.
