LIVING CHRISTMAS PAGEANT

LIVING CHRISTMAS PAGEANT — For the fourth year, Lomega area churches are hosting their dnve through live nativity pageant, but this year’s event promises to be even more special. Not only does the drive-through format provide what one organizer describes as “an entirely COVID-safe way to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas,” but the date of the event, Dec. 21, coincides with the closest convergence of the planets Jupiter and Saturn in more than 800 years. Both planets are among the brightest objects in the night sky and their convergence (plus a clear night) promises to provide the appearance of what some are calling “the Christmas star.” The event is scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Cedar Gate, 2.5 miles north of S.H. 33 on 2750 Road. Those who feel safe venturing out of their cars can also enjoy a separate gathering at the barn with Christmas music, children’s crafts, fellowship and food, hosted by the Cedar Gate. Facemasks are optional and will not be provided. Scenes from previous years include, top photo, the three wisemen, portrayed by John Westphal, Steve Pope and Beelie Biehler; Mia Farrow and Saidee Wright, bottom left and right, as shepherdesses, and two of the live camels, bottom center, which help bring the realistic tableaus to colorful life. /Photos Courtesy Debbie Biehler]
