Barbara Ruth Foster Wickett departed this life on Feb. 6, 2024.

She was born June 29, 1936, to Theodore Roosevelt (TR) Foster and Cora Marie Dickson Foster in El Reno.

Her first two years of school were in a one-room school at Mt. Everett. She then attended Cashion Schools and later Oklahoma A&M College (OSU).

In 1955, Barbara married Jesse E. (JE) Wickett and to this union was born four children: Dana Ann Wickett (deceased 1963); Leslie Wickett Ratliff (Chuck) of Florida; Jesse “Paul” Wickett (Lora) of Oklahoma; Brian Wickett (Cindy) of Oklahoma and granddaughters Erica and Amy.

She is also survived by her brother Jack (Darlene) Foster of Colorado, sistersin- law Colleen Foster of Cashion and Mary Rose Janssen of Florida and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara loved animals and spent many years working alongside veterinarians in the Kingfisher and Crescent areas.

She later worked for the Appaloosa Horse Club, Oklahoma Horseman’s Association and the Oklahoma Lumberman’s Association.

Barbara was a passionate reader and loved all types of books.

She spent her later years living in Calera next door to her son, Paul, who was always there for her.

She adored her dogs Dora and Tess, walking them daily, taking them for rides and always cooking something special for them.

Mom enjoyed telling her children about her grandparents and the Oklahoma Land Run of 1889. The homestead still remains in the Foster family to this day.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, the father of her children (JE), her daughter Dana and brother Shirley Foster.

If you would like to make a donation in her remembrance, please donate to the animal charity of your choice.

Her children plan to hold a graveside service for her at a later date.
