Dorinda Inez Wolf of Kingfisher passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City with family by her side. She was 78.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kingfi sher under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.

Burial will follow at Kingfisher Cemetery.

Dorinda was born Sept. 26, 1944, in Salem, Ill., to Blaine and Betty Gill.

As soon as she could hold a baton, Dorinda began twirling.

Soon, she and her mother were traveling the United States for twirling competitions.

Dorinda won hundreds of trophies and medals in her twirling career, nearly enough to fill the house.

Her accomplishments included national champion baton twirler in 195960; NBTA All-American twirling team in 1959; Miss Majorette of Illinois in 1962; four-time Illinois state champion; ranked No. 3 in the U.S. during her senior year.

Among numerous other awards and championships for Dorinda was being a Kiwanis national contest winner, which included her being a guest of Elvis Presley at Graceland.

After Dorinda graduated high school, the family moved to Oklahoma where she attended the University of Oklahoma and was the featured twirler for the Pride of Oklahoma from 1962-65.

Dorinda married Marvin Thomsen in January 1966.

In May 1970, Dorinda married Stanley Wolf.

In 1992, Dorinda moved to Missouri where she lived on a farm with her many animals and partner, William “Bill” Arnold, for 29 years.

Dorinda gave both twirling and piano lessons to many children throughout the years.

She served as an organist for Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kingfisher for many years and worked for Walmart for several years before retiring.

She also owned Dorinda’s Stitches-n-Stencils with her mother in the 1980s.

She frequented the Yardstick in the earlier years.

When she moved back to Kingfisher in March 2021, she picked up where she left off and found new places to frequent such as The Quilt Lady, Pink Zebra and Designs by Dennis to name a few.

She loved sewing, quilting, drawing, shopping, cruising town, picking up her granddaughter Hensley from school, watching the Lifetime channel and just enjoying life.

Dorinda loved her family and grandkids with all her heart.

Dorinda was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Thomsen, Stanley Wolf, William Arnold, daughterin- law Glenda Wolf, sisterin- law Cindy Gill, and Lola and Arnold Wolf.

She is survived by her brother Gareld Gill; son Shawn Thomsen and wife Brandi; son Derrick Wolf; daughter Shawna Stafford and husband Jeremy; grandchildren Dakota Thomsen, Kelsi Edwards, Shae Edwards and wife Anna, Hunter Thompson and wife Shawna, Hayden Stafford, Hope Stafford and Hensley Stafford; great-grandchildren Jaxson Thompson and Oliver and Cooper Edwards; and nephews Lance Hursh and wife Kristy, Eric Gill and wife Lara and Chad Gill and wife Katie.

Memorial donations in Dorinda’s name can be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 124 W. Douglas Ave., Kingfisher, OK 73750.
