Janet Rae (Bauer) Haxton, 81, of Kingfisher, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024.

Janet Bauer was born March 12, 1942, in Hillrose, Colo., to Helen Wolf and the Rev. Hershal Bauer.

She married William “Dennis” Haxton on May 29, 1960.

They lived in Kansas, Colorado and settled in Kingfisher, where they raised their four beautiful children - Lori, Mike, Greg and Bill.

For most of her life, Janet spent her time taking care of children whether they were her own or not.

Janet was a very sweet and simple woman who loved her family deeply and loved to take care of people.

Janet’s passing has created a painful loss and absence for all who knew and loved her, but we rejoice in her life and journey home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, William Dennis Haxton; her parents, Hershal and Helen Bauer; stepmother, Betty Bauer; two brothers, Buddy Bauer and James Bauer; sisters, Helen “Jean” Matoush and Judy Bauer; son, Michael Ray Haxton; and grandson, Evan Dean Haxton.

She is survived by her children, Lori West of Kingfisher, Greg Haxton and wife Leah of Blanchard and William “Bill” Haxton of Bethany.

Aside from her own children being her greatest blessings, Janet was also blessed with grandchildren who were very fond of their “Meme.” They include Justin West, Hunter Haxton and Hailey Haxton and great-grandson Cooper West.

Also, sisters Joyce Kues of Del City, Joan Borden and husband Randy of Broomfield, Joett King and husband Gary of Castle Rock, Jolynne Kincaid and husband Duane of Fountain; and a brother Richard Bauer and wife Nita of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private service under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
