Keith H. Jech, 94, of Wayne, Neb., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023, at Kinship Pointe in Wayne with his son and daughter at his side. Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne has been entrusted with his services. Visitation for Keith will be from 4-6 pm on Thursday, Jan. 19, at Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Funeral Services will also be at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20.

Keith was born Feb. 1, 1928, to Jerry and Mary (Hammermeister) Jech near Okarche and was raised on a farm near Kingfisher.

Keith was fascinated with flying and studying aeronautics in high school. Following his graduation from high school, Keith joined the Army, serving in Japan after World War II.

Keith graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1952 with a degree in agricultural education.

He taught agriculture in high school at Ewing and Wayne, Neb., as well as Wayne State College.

Keith met Lois Jean Roenfeldt in Wayne and they were married on Nov. 14, 1954, in Stanton, Neb.

They were blessed in their union with three children: a son, Kerry, and twins, Kevin and Kristy.

Together, Keith and Lois spent free time boating, skiing, fishing, playing bridge and bowling.

They were privileged to travel to 48 of the 50 states (excluding Hawaii and Florida), Canada, and spent a month in the Czech Republic.

Keith received his real estate license in 1958 and his Chartered Life Underwriter diploma in 1966.

He sold both insurance and real estate and had an income tax business from 1958 until 2009.

Keith loved learning about computers, being outdoors and spending time on the upkeep of his bushes, flowers, garden and more.

Keith was a member Our Savior Lutheran Church, where he served in several capacities over the years. He was a member of the Lions Club and a 65-year member of both the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star.

Keith is survived by his son Kerry (Jane) Jech of Marshalltown, Iowa, and daughter Kristy (Ron) Spicer of Dumfries, Va.; daughter-in-law Donna Jech of Rushville, Neb.; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, three great- great- grandchildren with another on the way; brother Arnold (Donna) Jech of Kingfisher; in-laws Sally Stuthman, Caroline Roenfeldt, Dorothy Anders, Clara (Dennis) Severa, Janet Roenfeldt and Rita Roenfeldt, all of Stanton.

Preceding Keith in death were his parents Jerry and Mary Jech; wife Lois on Nov. 20, 2021, and her parents; son Kevin on Oct. 8, 2021; daughter-in-law Joyce Jech; siblings Betty (Mervin) Rasp and Delvin (Nancy) Jech; Lois’ siblings Emil, Fritz (Delores), Walter, Orville, and Beezy Roenfeldt, Marie (Wayne) Wendt, Mabel (Alvin) Hartman, Hilda (Norman) Remm, Esther (Leonard) Sydow, Florence – Flossie (Keith) Carson, LaVern – Tilly (Norman) Lehman, and Lois’ in-laws Henry Stuthman and Dallas Anders.
