Lynn Dale Broyles was born to Calvin Dale Broyles and Betty Jo Broyles in Ardmore on Dec. 23, 1955. He passed away Aug. 20, 2023, at the age of 67.

Lynn grew up in and graduated from Purcell High School in 1975.

In 1977, Lynn moved to Kingfisher when he took a job with Beard Oil Company. He continued in the oil and gas industry until his retirement in 2017.

His friends and family knew him as an honest, loyal and straightforward man who was always willing to help anyone in need.

He loved going out to “the land,” shooting guns, fishing and telling detailed stories. Although rarely caught in a photograph, he loved to laugh.

Lynn and Doris were married on Sept. 27, 1980. They had two kids: their son, Jeremiah Broyles, and daughter Stephanie (Broyles) Smith.

Lynn was affectionately known as Grumpa by his Grumpkids: Trenton, Mia, Preston, Griffin, Lillian, Emersyn, Graceyn, Eli, Haddyn and “Thor.”

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Charlotte Cannon, his niece, Crystal Cannon, and his in-laws Lump (Sam) and Louis Hilburn. He is survived by his wife Doris Broyles; son Jeremiah and wife Tiffany; daughter Stephanie and husband Donnie; his grumpkids; his brother David Broyles and wife Nancy; his nephews Alex Broyles, Andrew Broyles, Aaron Broyles and Nick Cannon; and nieces Bridget Gilliam, Courtney Lezzi and Danielle Lopez.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at Sanders Funeral Service Chapel in Kingfisher under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
