The funeral for Mike Pribyl, 70, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 27, at the Hennessey High School auditorium officiated by Jimmy Berkenbile and Vernon Racer.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery officiated by Rev. Edward Menasco. Arrangements are by Cordry- Gritz Funeral Home.

Mike was born in Enid on Dec. 10, 1952, to David and Obeline Pribyl and died Friday, July 21, 2023, at his home northwest of Hennessey.

He married Linda Frakes in Pampa, Texas, on July 31, 1978.

Mike got his pilot’s license at the age of 16 and loved to fly.

Following high school graduation, Mike worked for Joe Hickey as a welder.

Mike went on harvest his first time with Darrell Beckner and Haudie White. He later custom harvested for 30 years.

His crew traveled from Texas to Canada. During the off months when he wasn’t harvesting, he hauled cattle.

Harvest is where Mike made most of his connections and lifelong friends. His harvest crew left as typical, rowdy teenage boys and came back men.

Mike was proud he was able to instill such a strong work ethic in those young men.

Following his time custom harvesting, Mike began farming and ranching, which he continued until his passing.

Mike is survived by his wife Linda of the home; one son, Cris Pribyl and wife Marcy; one granddaughter, Jentry Pribyl; two sisters, Rebecca Freeman and husband Steve of Texas, and Kim Hawk of Hennessey.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Mark and Joseph Pribyl; and one brother-inlaw, Jimmy Hawk.
