Victor Alonso Oropeza, 33, of Piedmont, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2024, in Houston, Texas, surrounded by those he loved.

He was born Jan. 30, 1991, in Hobart to Maria and Porfirio Oropeza.

Victor attended Sentinel Public Schools where he was very active in basketball; always after that 3-point shot!

While in high school, he also enjoyed taking part in the Technology Student Association.

Victor was a 2009 Sentinel High School graduate and went on to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he obtained a degree in computer science in 2013.

While attending SWOSU, he met his wife, Nikki, at a ping pong tournament. Little did they know they would be stuck like glue for the next 13 years.

The two loved hiking, trying new foods and a good game of Scrabble, where Victor was usually the winner.

Victor had a great sense of humor and was a good conversationalist, making him able to make friends with almost anyone.

One such friend was Justin Arwood, whom he met during his college days; the two became best friends.

Victor’s favorite holiday was Halloween and man did he love it! Each October he decorated the house, watched scary movies all month and loved handing out candy to the trick-ortreaters.

Victor had a love for dogs and a talent for training them, especially his girls Ziggs and Rubie.

Victor faced his twoyear battle with leukemia courageously, taking each new treatment in stride. He fought hard and kept a positive attitude, even becoming a source of encouragement for other patients.

Victor loved spending time with his family and enjoyed playing with his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Victor is survived by his wife, Nikki Oropeza; parents, Porfirio and Maria Oropeza; siblings, Porfirio Oropeza, Jr., Luis Oropeza and wife Deyanira, Daisy Oropeza and Makayla Oropeza; mother-in-law and father-in-law Kim and Ronald Wilczek; sisters and brothers-in-law Paige and Marty Leatherwood, Amy and Reid Trout; nieces and nephews, Jizelle and Jaylah Oropeza, Zack and Levia Leatherwood and Walker Trout; best friend, Justin Arwood; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
