Cashion got a head start on the rest of Kingfisher County in returning to the basketball court.

The Lady Wildcats and Wildcats swept Luther in a home double-header on Saturday.

It was the start of a busy eight-day stretch for Cashion, which hosted Oklahoma Bible Academy on Tuesday (after press time of this edition) and then heads west to Watonga for the Three Rivers Conference Tournament on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Defense leads Lady Wildcats

It took Luther until the fourth quarter to reach double digits in an 83-13 victory for Cashion’s girls.

Meanwhile, five different Lady Wildcats managed to score in double figures.

Lily Stuemky led the way with 15 points as Cashion improved to 6-2 on the season.

Cashion also got 14 points from Kate Nabavi, 12 from Brooke Shafer and 11 apiece out of Tinley Meier and Jaylee Harp.

Already up 25-6 after a quarter, Cashion outscored Luther 17-0 in the second.

The lead was 62-8 after three quarters.

Wildcats pull away for easy win

It was a close game until it wasn’t.

Cashion woke up after the first quarter to dominate the visiting Lions 81-49.

The visitors were within 14-12 after a quarter before the game turned in the second.

In a big way. Cashion used a 28-2 run to take firm command.

The Wildcats won despite shooting just 19 percent (4 of 21) from 3-point range.

They did, however, shoot 58.8 percent (30 of 51) from inside the arc.

Grayson Little was big in that total as he was 7 of 9 from the field for his 16 points. He also led the way with 10 rebounds.

Cashion out-rebounded the Lions 32-19.

Parker Mitchell poured in 19 points to lead all scorers.

Kyle Yowell scored 11. The win upped Cashion’s record to 5-3.
