Work on the dome-shaped Eagle Event Center is “progressing and our end of November target may be more like an end of December opening,” said Hennessey School Superintendent Dr. Mike Woods.

“We’re making some adjustments such as a secondary ticket booth,” he said after the board’s meeting last Tuesday.

He’d earlier said there were issues with bleachers not arriving on schedule and other issues that had caused delays.

Woods said he told the board in his monthly report that he’d been contacted by local Masons who want to place a cornerstone at the new facility.

He said that’s fairly common, probably more in earlier years, and there’s a Mason cornerstone at the old high school (now public library) on Main Street.

“I wanted to give them time to research it and be prepared when we put it on the agenda as an action item,” he said.

The Times & Free Press did not have a reporter at that meeting.
