AREA RUNNER-UP – The Cashion High School academic team finished runner-up at the Class 3A area tournament last Saturday to earn one of eight spots at the state tournament. The Class 3A state tournament will be Saturday, Jan. 27, at Rose State College in Midwest City.

Kingfisher High School cheerleaders held a ceremony last week at which they received their state championship rings. The team won the Class 4A competitive cheer state title last September, doing so for the fi rst time since 2008.

2 people killed in collision near Cimarron City

A crash early Thursday morning resulted in the death of two area residents.David Wesley Rout, 82, of Crescent, and McKenzie Hunter Moore, 28, of Cashion, were both pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Miller EMS employees.The accident occurred about 8:25 a.m.

District attorney visits county commission meeting

New District Attorney Tommy Humphries paid a visit to Kingfisher County commissioners Tuesday.He was not on the agenda, so he didn’t speak during the meeting, although Commission Chairman Heath Dobrovolny noted his presence and welcomed him to Kingfisher County.

Book club meets Monday

Kingfisher Bookcase Review Club will meet Monday, Jan. 22, at the Farm Bureau Insurance Building, 117 W. Sheridan Ave., Kingfisher.Dutch treat lunch is $10 and will be served at 11:30 a.m. followed by a presentation by Kathy Kadavy.She will review “Lost in Shangri-La” by Mitchell Zuckoff.
