Hennessey teen dies in accident

A 15-year-old Hennessey male died from injuries suffered in a one-vehicle accident Monday.The Oklahoma Highway Patrol, which investigated the accident about three-quarter mile east of Hennessey on County Road E640 near County Road N2880, does not release the name of juveniles.

County settles jail suit

A suit against the Kingfi sher County Sheriff’s Department alleging sexual misconduct in the jail regarding a female prisoner has been settled at a cost of $70,000.Sheriff Dennis Banther, who attended a settlement hearing at the Western District of the U.S.

Board of ed seat filing begins soon

Candidate filing for board of education seats in the Kingfisher County school districts is nearing.Qualified candidates may file at the Kingfisher County Election Board office at the Kingfisher County Courthouse from 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, until 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Next edition prints early

Although it shouldn’t affect the delivery of your newspaper, the upcoming weekend edition of the Times & Free Press will be printed two days earlier than normal.The early printing is due to the newspaper printer being closed Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Settlement could lead to 12% tax hike

The settlement agreement made between Kingfi sher Public Schools and a former football player last week could see property taxes rise 12% for each of the next three years for those living within the district’s boundaries.
