Kingfisher County commissioners received notice Monday that the county has been named a StormReady County by the National Weather Service’s Norman forecast office.

The rain predicted for last weekend failed to materialize locally.However, KOCO-TV meteorologists said there was a chance of another front that could bring rain in the coming weekend. The National Weather Service forecast map called for clear skies through Friday.

Long Term Care Authority of Enid Area Agency on Aging will be conducting a Medicare open enrollment event next week in Kingfisher County.The enrollment will be Friday, Oct. 28, at Hennessey Mercantile, 100 N. Main St., in Hennessey.It will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Local book club meets Monday

Kingfisher Bookcase Review Club will meet Monday, Oct. 24, at the Farm Bureau Insurance Building, 117 W. Sheridan Ave., Kingfisher. Dutch treat lunch is $10 and will be served at 11:30 a.m. followed by a presentation by Jeanne Morgan of Oklahoma City. She will review “Educated” by Tara Westover.
