Nancy Bomhoff’s entry in the Kingfisher County Free Fair proved to be one of the big winners after judging on Thursday. The free fair began Wednesday night with a series of contests featuring local FFA and 4-H members and ran through Saturday.

Hay bale fire Two brush pumper trucks were dispatched to a hay bale fire eight miles west of State Highway 51, one mile south on the east side of the road at 11:17 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23. Firefighters responding were Levi Copeland, Dustin Greener and Tyson Copeland.

The latest work of Kingfisher artist John Gooden will be unveiled Friday in front of the newly constructed Kingfisher Visitors Center just east of Main Street on Broadway Avenue. The sculpture depicting Cheyenne Medicine Man Lame Bull and a historical marker will be unveiled in a 10 a.m.

Seventeen-year-old Ashland Crites was elected as the Hennessey High School senior member of the Hennessey United Board of Directors at the service group’s Aug. 19 meeting. She will also serve as liaison to United’s 2020-21 Leadership Hennessey program for high school seniors.

Dover Fire Department is one step closer to having use of a new tanker truck. Kingfisher County Commissioners on Monday accepted a bid from J&J Custom Fire of Pawnee to convert a 1995 Freightliner into a tanker.

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports: August 6 - Larceny of merchandise from retailer. Officer Aaron Schlegel responded to a report of theft at Pink Zebra, 124 N. Main St.

As of press time Tuesday, the Dover High School softball team was 7-3 under first-year head coach Matt Peck. Coaches are taking notice. The Lady Longhorns were ranked No. 17 in Class B when the coaches’ rankings were released Monday on ossaarankings. com.

Seven-year-old Lux Jackson is the daughter of Joe and Marisa Jackson. She’s in the second grade and this is her first year as a Cloverbud. Her favorite part of being a Cloverbud is taking part in arts and crafts.
