Kingfisher Regional Hospital board President Pat Cheap was expected to sign papers Friday afternoon on a $10.5 million loan to refinance the remainder of the construction debt for the new hospital.

Reports of waitlists for Covid-19 treatment beds in some parts of the state, particularly ICU beds, are beginning to re-emerge as hospitalizations trend upward in the wake of the highly contagious Delta variant.

A local church has created a mission out of making sure area students can walk into school with an extra spring in their step. Kingfisher First Christian Church has been operating its “Shoe Our Children” program since 2012, providing a new pair of shoes to students in pre-K through 12th grades.

The last day to apply for voter registration in order to be eligible to vote in Kingfisher’s runoff election for city commissioner is Friday, Aug. 20. The runoff election is Tuesday, Sept. 14, and Geoff Covalt and Kaci Farrar will be on the ballot.

The Okarche Police Department last week picked up a distinguished piece of paper. The department was presented with a certificate of verification from the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Accreditation Program(OLEAP). The presentation was made last during the regular meeting of the Okarche Town Board.
