Hennessey man charged with child abuse

A 26-year-old Hennessey man remains jailed on $100,000 bond on a charge of felony child abuse for alleged injuries to his three-month-old son. Oscar Daniel Estrada-Morales, 719 S. Bonita, pleaded not guilty to the charge March 17 in Kingfisher County District Court.

Starting Monday, every state resident age 16 and older is eligible to receive a Covid-19 vaccine, the state health department announced last week. Anyone age 16 and over may receive the Pfizer vaccine, while recipients of the Johnson & Johnson and Moderna vaccines must be age 18 or older.

Sales tax checks for March were lower for Kingfisher County towns as oilfield activity continued to decline. Kingfisher’s sales tax took a big drop as the tax rated dropped from 3.335 % to 3 % . However the percentage of loss per penny of tax fell only 21.1 percent.

Voters will go to the polls April 6 to select candidates for a number of local offices. Kingfisher County voters will have a say in a number of board of education seats, including Kingfisher, Dover, Cashion, Crescent, Piedmont, Cimarron, Covington-Douglas and the Canadian Valley Technology Center.

The following traffic accident is being investigated by the Kingfisher Police Department: March 11, 8:50 a.m. - At U.S. 81 and East Starlite Drive. Joel Dettweiler, 61, Kingfisher, driving a 2015 Honda CRV, was westbound on East Starlite Drive and stopped at the intersection of U.S. 81.
