RECORD-BREAKING TURNOUT made this year’s Guns & Hoses blood drive competition between the Kingfisher police and fire departments the most successful local drive as well as the most blood drawn at any police-fire competition drive in northwest Oklahoma.

The Hennessey school board may vote to authorize the superintendent to sign agreements in the Raymond Kokojan Trust litigation in a special meeting at noon Tuesday. The board is to first discuss the matter in executive (closed to the public) session with school attorney, Phyllis Walta.

Now it looks like mid-March before Kingfisher’s latest Oklahoma Department of Transportation construction project will begin, due to contractor scheduling.Eastbound and westbound S.H. 33 (Broadway Avenue) will be narrowed and lanes shifted between U.S.

The marquee lights were turned on Wednesday night at Hennessey’s two-story Eagle Event Center (more commonly called “The Dome”) but it will be about 60 days before it’s move-in ready.

You’d think it would be like deja vu for Paul Caffey who served on the Hennessey Public Library board 40 years ago and was re-appointed to that board last week. But you’d be wrong. Back in the late 1970s, the library was located on North Main Street in Memorial Hall.

Four Holy Trinity Catholic School students had their work selected in the top 100 posters in the 2019 American Farmers & Ranchers (AFR) Poster Contest. There were more than 3,000 posters submitted in Oklahoma this year and four of the top 100 were selected from the Okarche school.

Rogers State University has announced its President’s and Dean’s Honor Rolls for the fall 2019 semester. Cashion’s Vaughn Raney was among those named to the Dean’s Honor Roll. To qualify for the Dean’s Honor Roll, students must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours with a 3.

“Planning Your Funeral” was the lesson presented to the Surprise Extension Homemakers when members met Feb. 13 in the home of Pansy Wheeler. “We discussed the myriad of questions required to be answered either now by ourselves or at the time of death by the family,” said Wheeler, club reporter.

The Hennessey Farmerettes OHCE met Feb. 13 in the home of Jean Stribel for a salad luncheon and meeting. Following the special luncheon, the meeting was opened by Billie Melendy, president. Lilly Rourke led the flag salute and the devotion, “True Peace,” was given by Mary Curry.
