KHS rolls on homecoming night

Five different players scored touchdowns as Kingfisher officially began its quest for the playoffs.The Jackets scored the game’s first 42 points Friday before cruising to a 58-26 homecoming victory against Bridge Creek.It was the District 3A-1 opener for both teams as KHS improved to 3-1 overall.

A quarter-century of work has paid off.Crescent laid claim to its second state championship in cheerleading last Saturday when it won the Class 2A competition at the UMAC in Tulsa.The group of lady Tigers scored 244.6 points to outgun co-runners-up Cashion and Haworth, who tallied 226.8 points each.

Cashion’s Raney earns scholarathlete honor

Vaughn Raney from Oklahoma City University hauled in NAIA scholar-athlete recognition. Raney, a senior and a Cashion High School alumnus, maintained a 3.550 grade-point average while pursuing a master’s degree in health care practice management.

Dover’s best fast-pitch softball season came to an end Thursday.Leedey defeated the Lady Longhorns in back-to-back games in Kingfisher to claim a Class B district championship.Dover was the district host, but with its softball field under construction, the district was moved to Kingfisher.

Emma Lukasek delivered the final heroics Monday as the Kingfisher High School softball team erased a threerun deficit in its final at-bat.Lukasek slapped a threerun double in the bottom of the seventh as KHS defeated the OKC Broncos 12-11 in a back-and-forth affair.

Crescent heads into the district portion of its season on a roll.The Tigers won their third straight game last Friday as they blasted Newkirk 37-7 at home.Since losing their opening game to Hennessey, the Tigers have outscored their last three foes 88-25.
