Last week was the “dead period” in Oklahoma, which is unofficially the one week during the summer when parents and coaches of junior high and high school athletes are allowed to vacation without fear of retribution (that’s a joke, sort of).

A number of area high school athletes earned All-City honors for their performances during the spring sports seasons. All-City teams are compiled and announced by The Oklahoman’s staff. It includes student-athletes from Oklahoma County and its adjoining counties.

KHS golf programs donate to Kingfisher Golf Course

Kingfisher High School’s golf programs donated $750 to the Kingfisher Golf Course at the conclusion of their 2021 seasons. The course allows the programs’ members to practice at the course daily and also hosts a number of tournaments each year. That total reached eight during the 2021 season.

When Mason and Todd Overstreet stepped outside of their Garden City hotel last Friday morning, they just looked at each other and laughed. Wind was sweeping through the southwest Kansas town steadily at 30 miles per hour with gusts of more than 40 and wouldn’t die down until later that evening.
