It was a bit of deja vu for Maddi Kamas at the 2021 Oklahoma Golf Association Junior Girls Championship. For the second straight year, Kamas stormed to the stroke play championship which gave her the No. 1 seed in the match play portion.

Hennessey’s Kendyll Miller’s performance in the breakaway at the Oklahoma Junior High School Rodeo Association’s state finals held late May in Chickasha solidified her spot as the season champion. Miller had a time of 3.

The 2020-21 fast-pitch season has long been over, but Kingfisher’s Olivia Wilcox isn’t done pulling in honors from the sport. Wilcox was recently named an Academic All-State selection by the Oklahoma Fast-Pitch Softball Coaches Association.

Cashion High School was well-represented at last weekend’s annual Classic Bowl in Woodward. The week of activities includes girls and boys basketball games and is capped with a football game at the end of the week.

It’s an all-star, all-state weekend for basketball

The baseball All-State games aren’t the only all-star events taking place this weekend. Girls and boys basketball groups will be holding multiple games featuring county players and hall of fame inductions with localties on Saturday, June 5.

Classic Bowl events are this week

A number of local high schools will be represented in all-star basketball and football games at this week’s Classic Bowl XXXIII in Woodward. The weeklong of events will be capped at 7:30 p.m. Saturday with the annual Classic Bowl football game.

One more time

This weekend’s Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association All-State games will have a dose of Kingfisher County flavor. Ian Daugherty of Kingfisher and Nathaniel Bronaugh of Cashion both were selected as OBCA All-State players for their performances during the 2021 season.

Rivera to run for NWOSU

Lomega’s Hector Rivera signed a letter of intent to run at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Rivera was a four-time state qualifier in the Class 2A state cross country meet, including Lomega’s 2018 team that was the state runner-up. He was also a multi-time qualifier in state track.

Tennis season concludes at state

The No. 1 doubles team garnered Kingfisher its only points of the Class 4A boys state tennis tournament, but both doubles squads were able to advance to the second day.
