Four recent Kingfisher High School graduates earned at least one last high school honor. The quartet were among those named to the Oklahoma Soccer Coaches Association All-State teams for 2020. Earning the honor in Class 3A were Emma Barnett and Jenna Mueggenborg for the girls.

He wasn’t the leading scorer and his team didn’t even win. None of that really mattered to Jacob Woody. He was just happy to be playing basketball.

Despite missing his senior season, Cashion High School graduate Logan LaGasse signed recently to continue his baseball career. LaGasse, seated center, signed to play at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.

Her goal was to place in the top-three. Goal achieved. Maddi Kamas finished with back-to-back birdies Thursday to bring home the runner-up trophy from the Texas Junior Golf Tour Elites Cup Invitational.

Saturday didn’t start out so great for Jeff and Riley Myers. The ending, however, was considerably better. The Myers family made it a family affair Saturday as the West defeated the East 21-13 in the Oklahoma Football Coaches Association All-State Game presented by Skordle.

Even in retirement, Curtis Lofton can’t help but haul in football honors. The Kingfisher High School product was recognized earlier this month by the National Football League team that drafted him more than 12 years ago.

The Cashion Middle School cheer squad recently attended Jeff and Craig Commuter Cheer Camp. 

The Oklahoma Football Coaches Association is hosting the All-State football game this weekend. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. Saturday at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee. It will pit All-State selections from the West against the East.

Will we have sports? That’s the question we get every single day. The short answer is: “I don’t know.” The long answer is obviously more complicated, but the state’s governing body for high school sports and other activities did provide some guidance last week.

Tristun Burnham can be found working on his golf game practically every day at Kingfisher Golf Course. That work paid off last week with his first career win. Burnham shot an evenpar 72 on July 16 to win the Lake Hefner Junior Tournament, which is part of the South Central PGA Junior Tour.
