Calumet holds off Lady Raider rally to start road sweep

Calumet apparently has Kingfi sher County’s number. One week after defeating Okarche in its new gym, the Lady Chieftains handed Lomega its second loss of the season. Calumet held off a furious Lady Raider rally to hold on to a 47-44 victory Tuesday at Lomega.

Okarche gives Jennings a break with easy victory

For the first time this season, Kelli Jennings was almost able to relax down the stretch of a game. After starting the season against basketball stalwarts Preston, Lomega and Calumet, the Lady Warriors had no trouble last Tuesday disposing of Harding Fine Arts, 72-21, at home.

BrieMyers’second-quarter eruption proved to be the difference in Okarche’s first loss of the season. Myers, Calumet’s sophomore shooting guard, sparked a huge eight-minute stretch as Calumet turned a defi cit into a halftime lead and then eventually a 53-46 win at Okarche High School’s gym.
