Lomega dominates Cimarron

Twelve different Raiders scored Tuesday night as Lomega remained undefeated early this basketball season. Playing their second road game of the year, Lomega dominated from the tip in a 71-39 victory at Cimarron. The Raiders didn’t give up a two-point fi eld goal in the game.

NATIONAL SIGNING DAY

Jenni Beebe has yet to play a game as a Kingfisher Yellow-jacket, but she has signed a National Letter of Intent as one. Beebe, a senior at KHS, signed last Wednesday to continue her basketball career at Oklahoma Baptist University.

Caldwells shine as Dover sweeps

It took Dover’s girls until their fi nal regular-season game to win their fi rst game last year. This time around, the Lady Longhorns needed just three games to grab their fi rst victory. Dover dominated from start to finish last Friday to handle Taloga in a 50-21 home victory.

Tigers nearly pull off CHA upset

Christian Heritage Academy outscored Crescent by two touchdowns over the fi nal two-plus quarters to escape with a win in last Friday’s season finale for both teams. CHA won despite being out-gained 451-244 by the Tigers.

Playoff pairings announced

Following are the matchups for the first round of the 2019 football playoffs for Classes A and 3A, which feature county teams Cashion and Kingfi sher. The OSSAA is once again offering free admission to veterans and one guest to the fi rst round.

Wildcats hope to make 2018 playoffs distant memory

The memory of last year’s playoff ouster is still fresh with the Cashion football team. With that in mind, a more strict approach is being taken toward the 2019 postseason. “Nobody wants what happened last year to happen again this year,” said Cashion coach Lynn Shackelford.

If history is any indication, Kingfisher is in great shape for its first-round playoff game. But, then again, games aren’t played in the past. KHS travels to Marlow to open the Class 3A playoffs Friday at Outlaw Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Early 3’s help DHS boys win

A red-hot start last Tuesday propelled the Dover boys basketball team to its fi rst win of the season. “We came out on fi re,” said first-year coach Aaron Norton after his team knocked off Cimarron 49-43 in Dover. The win was Norton’s first with the Longhorns as they improved to 1-1.

Lady Warriors finish strong at Lomega

It comes down to making shots. Okarche made them. Lomega mostly missed them. Okarche won. The Lady Warriors won this year’s version of one of the state’s best small-school rivalries by handing Lomega a 57-44 defeat on the Lady Raiders’ home court.
