After trailing for one of the few times this season, Cashion had little trouble in disposing of yet another foe. The Wildcats scored 27 straight points last Friday as part of a 54-14 win at Watonga to stay unbeaten. Cashion is now 7-0 overall and 4-0 in District A-3.

As if playing the top-ranked and defending state champions wasn’t enough last week, the Kingfi sher Yellowjackets also had to battle the elements. All of that became too much to overcome as the Yellowjackets were outlasted 27-3 Friday by Heritage Hall in Oklahoma City.

Cashion’s Taylor gets All-State finish in 2A

Steady improvement earned All-State recognition for Kaitin Taylor. The Cashion High School senior ran in her fourth straight Class 2A state cross country meet and took home a ninth-place fi nish. Taylor fi nished Shawnee’s Gordon Cooper Technology Center’s 3,200 meter course in 13:10.03.

Running under tough conditions

Mother Nature saved her worst for last when it came to the 2019 cross country season. In the most heinous conditions of the season, the Kingfisher High School girls placed eighth and the boys 15th last Saturday at the Class 4A state meet at Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee.

Crescent tackles Putnam Heights

Crescent began a two-week swing of non-district games last Friday by handing Putnam Heights Academy a 41-6 defeat at home. The Tigers, like the rest of District A-3, have four non-district games this year after Northeast Academy was shut down after last school year by Oklahoma City Public Schools.

Kingfisher’s junior high cheerleading team brought home more hardware over the weekend. The group finished as runner-up at the Class 4A Junior High Game Day state competition at Choctaw High School. Kingfi sher finished with 280 points. Pauls Valley won the state championship with 315.

ALL-DISTRICT

Kingfisher junior Mia Farrell has picked up another softball honor. The KHS outfielder was selected to the 4A-1 all-district team, it was announced after a meeting of coaches last week. Farrell led the Lady Jackets with a .391 batting average in 2019 and also had a team-high 43 hits.

Kingfisher JV, 7th grade get wins over Bobcats

Cade Cooper had a pair of touchdown runs and Jax Stern-berger accounted for four total touchdowns Monday in Kingfisher JV’s 48-0 victory over Bridge Creek. Both of Cooper’s scoring runs came in the first quarter as he found the end zone from 4 and 15 yards.
