Cashion puts away foe early

Alex Nabavi got Cashion’s scoring assault going on the ground. Ben Harman finished it through the air. Nabavi returned the opening kickoff for a score and Harman threw six touchdown passes last Friday to lift Cashion to a 44-0 victory at Elmore City-Pernell.

Better late than never for KHS

Simply put, things appeared bleak in the first half last Friday night. Kingfisher trailed winless Mannford 14-0 on the road and were an overthrown ball from being down three scores.

Better weather = Better times

Cross country runners were greeted with the coolest temperatures of the season Thursday and they responded with some of the best times of their careers. The Kingfisher High School girls took fourth place and the boys 10th at the Oklahoma Baptist University Pre-State Challenge in Shawnee.

When the season started, first-year Dover baseball coach Dylan Blundell had realistic expectations. “We just want to get at least one this year,” said Blundell, a Kingfisher High School graduate and son of KHS head baseball coach Stan Blundell. By “one,” Blundell meant wins.

Ironically, it was in defeat that Mark Framel was confident his team would emerge victorious. Okarche capped off the biggest surprise in Class A Saturday by defeating No. 13 Amber-Pocasset 2-1 on its home field to claim a district championship.

Cashion faced adversity for the first time this season and stared it down. The Wildcats scored twice in the final 17 seconds at home last Friday night to beat Christian Heritage Academy in a thriller for the second year in a row.
