Teams to run for spot at state

A majority of county cross country teams will be making the trip to Enid this Saturday for their regional meets.A couple of others will be traveling quite a bit further.Kingfisher is one of them.The KHS runners will take part in a Class 4A regional in Waurika on Saturday.

Six Kingfisher High School softball players were voted to the 4A-1 All-District team by its coaches.Three of them earned first-team honors. Selected to the first team were Liliana Garramone as an outfielder, Lily Voth as a pitcher and Adlee Friesen as a utility player.

Lady Jacket softball team earns academic state title

STATE CHAMPS – Members of the Kingfisher High School softball team were honored Saturday at Devon Park. The team was recognized as the Class 4A academic state champion prior to the state title softball game. The team carried a cumulative 3.95 grade point average in earning the honor.

Cashion runs away with rivalry win

Kellen Smith threw for four touchdowns and Rivals Fields ran for three more Thursday as Cashion claimed the “War on 74” by downing rival Crescent 6029 on the road.The win kept the Wildcats in a four-way tie for second place in District A-I-1. They have a 3-1 mark as do Fairview, Hinton and Sayre.

Eagles ride Ponies to 40-8 road victory

Hennessey has taken care of business against the bottom feeders of District 2A-I-1.Now the Eagles’ playoff hopes will hinge on how they fare against teams closer to the top of those standings.Hennessey headed east Thursday night and came back home from Kellyville with a dominant 40-8 performance.

For a brief moment, it appeared Okarche was going to pull off the improbable, if not the impossible.Colin Hendrickson laced a shot to right field with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, two runners in scoring position and his team trailing by a run.

Second-ranked Hooker dominant in visit to Cashion

As it turns out, Hooker wasn’t caught looking ahead to this week.The second-ranked Bulldogs lived up to their billing Friday by handing Cashion a 54-14 home loss.The game ended a three-game win streak for the Wildcats, who dropped to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in District A-I-1. Hooker is now 5-1 and 3-0.

Five different Eagles scored touchdowns Friday as Hennessey took care of business by sending Meeker home with a 49-7 defeat.The win keeps Hennessey in play for a playoff spot. It won for the third time in four games to improve to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in District 2AII-1.

Snodgrass wins 1st, team 2nd at Heritage Hall meet

About midway through the course on Thursday, Scout Snodgrass found herself in fourth place.By the time she reached the final stretch, the Kingfi sher High School junior had made her way to the front of the pack, but was closely pursued by Hope Fahler of Casady and Zeffie Elenburg of Heritage Hall.
