Annual golf benefit to aid Meals on Wheels, KCC

A day of fun can provide needed help to hundreds in our community.That’s the goal of the Kingfisher Golf Association’s annual Benefit Golf Tournament, which enters its ninth year.This year’s event is May 4 at Kingfisher Golf Course. The four-person scramble will have a shotgun start at 9 a.m.

KHS travels to Tuttle for 4A regional

Kingfisher finished fourth in District 4A-3 and heads to Tuttle for its baseball regional this week.Joining the Jackets and Tigers in the double-elimination tournament will be Douglass and Madill.Tuttle won District 4A-4 and the right to host the regional.

The Okarche Warriors are looking for their first trip to the spring state tournament since 2015.They’ll host a double- elimination Class A regional tournament this week to end that drought.Joining the fifth-ranked Warriors are No. 12 Pioneer, Porum and Barnsdall.

The Hennessey girls golf team has qualified for a Class 3A regional. The group of Lady Eagles played in Tuesday’s regional qualifier at Blackwell. Their 440 placed them sixth, securing them the final qualifying spot. They beat Caney Valley by six strokes.

Jackets wrap up district with Clinton sweep

A sweep last week over Clinton secured Kingfi sher fourth place in the District 4A-3 standings.The Jackets beat Clinton 9-4 on the road Monday, then returned home Tuesday to deliver a 12-2 run-rule victory.

Softball, baseball districts in full swing (and pitch)

Playoff season is here for small school baseball and softball. One county team claimed a district championship Thursday while three others remained in the hunt. The Dover baseball team grabbed a 14-5 win against Medford on Thursday in a Class B district at Kremlin- Hillsdale.
